Developer Privacy Policy

1. What this policy covers

This policy covers the personal data SimpleCareercollects when you create and use a developer account for the jobs data API and its portal. It does not cover the job-postings data the API serves: postings are employers’ public content, collected from their public career sites, and are not personal data about you. The consumer SimpleCareer app has its own privacy policy.

2. What we collect

• Account details: your name, email address, and a hashed password.
• API keys: we store only a hash of each key plus a short display prefix. We cannot recover a full key after we show it to you.
• Usage metering: per-key request counts and row counts, aggregated hourly. We use these to run the service and, on paid plans, to bill you.
• Server logs: request logs (including IP address and endpoint) kept for 30 days for security and debugging.
• Cookies: a session cookie to keep you signed in to the portal. We set no analytics cookies today.

3. Why we use it

We use this data to provide the service (authenticate you, serve your requests, show you your usage), to secure it (detect abuse and leaked keys), and to bill for it on paid plans. We do not use your account data for advertising.

4. Processors

We rely on a small set of service providers to run the service:

• Vercel: hosts the developer portal.
• Supabase: hosts the database that stores your account, keys, and usage records.
• Resend: sends transactional email (verification, password resets).
• Stripe: processes payments on paid plans. Card details go to Stripe directly and never touch our servers.
• Cloudflare: sits in front of the API for networking and security.

5. No sale of personal data

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

6. Retention

We keep your account data while your account is active. Server logs are deleted after 30 days. When you close your account, we delete your account record and keys; we may retain aggregated usage and billing records where the law requires it (for example, tax records).

7. Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and its data. Email api@simplecareer.com from your account address and we will handle it.

8. GDPR and EU users

For developer accounts, SimpleCareer acts as the data controller. Our legal bases are performance of a contract (running the service you signed up for) and legitimate interest (securing it). If you are in the EU or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

9. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the “Last updated” date above. For material changes we will notify you by email or in the portal before they take effect.
